Dear Parents,
Southland Transportation has informed us that delays are possible tomorrow on all routes due to the extremely
cold weather. CSS was fortunate today that all of our routes were completed, but there is a chance mechanical
difficulties may delay many buses in this very cold weather. The low temperatures and high winds can be dangerous,
so please remember the following points:
- Ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather.
- Students should not be left outside to wait for the bus.
- Make sure your child has somewhere warm to wait such as a car or a building.
- The drivers are told to wait at each stop in these conditions so that students waiting
inside have time to board the bus.
- Always have a backup plan in place in case the buses are not running.
- Parents are responsible for their children until they board the bus in the morning,
and as soon as they step off the bus in the afternoon.
- Check the website before leaving for the stop for any delays reported on your route
(you might also sign up for the bus delay text messaging system on the school website if
you haven’t already done so). Keep in mind that the length of the delay can change with traffic
conditions.
We would like to thank our drivers for doing an excellent job of getting our students to school,
even in the most inclement weather and in dealing with many complications that result in delays which
are beyond their control.
Regards,
CSS Administration
