Humanities
In Humanities, students and teachers collaborate to develop critical and empathic responses to
relevant issues affecting local and global communities. As they engage with each other and with
others outside of CSS, students experience communication strategies that help them appreciate
diverse perspectives and to communicate their own ideas in compelling ways. Rich questions open
diverse possibilities for further inquiry and allow students to bring their own passions to bear on
shared topics of study.
Some of the questions we've explored in Humanities include:
- Do the benefits of globalization outweigh the costs?
- Is multiculturalism working in Canada the way we want it to?
- How can we tell the stories of new immigrants in a way that represents their true experience?
- What is a fair process for our class to decide how to spend $100?
