The aim of education should be to teach us rather how to think, than what to think – rather to improve our minds, so as to enable us to think for ourselves, than to load the memory with thoughts of other men.

Why is busing so expensive at CSS?

Some other school boards subsidize the cost of busing from instructional money. The CSS Board of Directors has decided not to do this (other than to cover off any deficit due to the unpredictability of fuel costs and bursaries). It is truly a user pay system, so parents pay the bulk of the actual cost of the service. The Alberta Government provides a transportation grant of just over $500 dollars that helps offset the cost of the service

Is there busing to every community in Calgary?

No. We bus students from all quadrants of the city but, given the complexity of the task of designing routes and the need to keep routes at a maximum of 90 minutes (one way), it is impossible to provide service to all communities. Where there are community stops, parents from other communities can drive their students to those stops to access the busing service.

Who do I contact with further questions about busing?

We have a group of volunteer parents who field questions and concerns about the busing system and who help design the routes each year. You can contact the committee at
